Lewes daytime brass

We know evenings aren’t for everyone.

That’s why we’re starting Lewes Daytime Brass.

Lewes Daytime Brass is a brand new ensemble in our family of bands, open to all brass players – not just current members. If you’re free on Monday mornings and fancy making music in good company, we’d love to welcome you.

10 week trial period

We’re running Lewes Daytime Brass as a 10 week trial from 13 October 2025. If there’s enough demand, we’ll look to make it a regular thing in 2026.

Who’s it for?

Everyone who’s free during the day and wants to play. We’re open, informal, and welcoming. We especially welcome members of other local bands who are looking for some extra playing during the week but don’t want to commit another evening. We don’t expect you to switch allegiance, just come along for an extra blow.

Retirees

Maybe you’re not fancying the 10pm drives any more, or you’ve just got more time to play with than you used to. Come and join us!

Parents

Kids taking up most of your evenings but available during the day and looking to get back into playing? This is the opportunity for you!

Shift workers

Missing out because all your band friends can do 8pm on a Thursday every week and your life’s not like that? FOMO no more!

Self-employed

Are you your own boss or able to choose your own working hours? Give yourself a break and join us for some daytime banding!

What do you need to know?

When and where?

Monday mornings from 10am to 12 noon, 13 October onwards, at our normal home in the All Saints Centre, Friars Walk, Lewes, BN7 2LE.

What should I expect?

Friendly, relaxed rehearsals, with a mix of music to suit all abilities. No auditions, no pressure, just good playing in good company.

Do I have to pay?

We do need to cover venue hire costs, so we’re asking anyone coming along to make a suggested donation of £5 for each rehearsal you attend. Alternative arrangements can be made for those with financial challenges. We’ll provide tea and coffee for free, so we think it’s pretty good value.

Can I still play in my usual band?

Of course! We understand that most people are very loyal to their bands, and we’re not asking you to switch teams.

Does it sound like your thing?

We’re keen to make sure we’ve got a fairly balanced band as much as possible, so if you’re planning to come along, please drop us a line on the normal form, and we’ll see you at All Saints on Monday 13th October!
